CVG Proforca’s short, mid, and long term strategic plan seeks the recovery, reinforcement and growth of the forest sector, consolidating Investment Projects capable to make forest activity more feasible. Examples of such projects are:

Enlargement o the Forest Development Program (Prodefor III).

In order to increase the supply of raw material for covering part of the current demand of wood, CVG Proforca proposes the enlargement of the East Forest Program, in its third stage.

The goal is to increase the forest production and to promote the sector’s industrialization, in order to supply the domestic market and impel manufactured products exports, strengthening the development of Caribbean pine’s value chain within the Axis Apure-Orinoco.

Bringing Prodefor III to pass, 312 thousand hectares of Caribbean pine will be incorporated to the forest production during the period 2006 – 2021, allowing then to partially cover the country’s forest products deficit in the next years and contribute with the diminution of the world wood deficit projected for 2030. An investment of 83 million dollars will start the first stage of this development. It involves the establishment of 100 thousand hectares of Caribbean pine plantations, the development of the forest management programs, forest ways and institutional strengthening.

For these projects, there are 1.8 million hectares assigned to the development of plantations in the South of Anzoátegui and Monagas States, out of which over 410 thousand hectares have been developed.

  Pulp and Paper Plant Installment.

This industrial forest project for the integral processing of Caribbean pine wood involves the installment of a plant to produce 150 thousand tons a year of mechanic pulp and 150 thousand a year of chemical pulp.

The amount of Caribbean pine wood required for this operation is guaranteed by CVG Proforca, through the assignment of 145,686 hectares of land planted out of the 400 thousand hectares available.

The estimated investment of the project for 2007 is 574 million dollars, the deadline for construction is 24 months, and the employment generation will be 300 direct jobs and 600 indirect jobs during the stage of building and 3 thousand direct jobs and over 6 thousand indirect jobs in the operation stage.

  Installment of a Sawing Plant.

An industrial project for the production of 170 cubic meters of sown wood a year, to satisfy both domestic and exports demand. The estimated investment reaches 30 million dollars and 170 direct jobs and 850 indirect jobs are expected.

  Wood Drying Plant.

The objective of this project is to contribute with the satisfaction of the demand for dry sown wood required as raw material for furniture, school seats, handcrafts, housing components and other assets, with the production of 34 thousand cubic meters of furnace-dried wood a year through a strategic association with the medium and small industries of the sector.

To bring to pass this proposal, which will be able to generate 150 direct and indirect jobs in the operation stage, an amount of 859 thousand dollars is required.

  Agricultural-Forestial Self-Management Sustainable Production Centers.

The objective of this project is to generate and coordinate an environmental and agricultural productive social action plan, addressing rural communities located near the forest plantations, through the production of animal origin foods for human consumption, direct or previously processed, in 80 hectares assigned to integral farms, double purpose livestock, organoponic gardens and handcraft carpentries.
