CVG Proforca promotes projects consolidation able to make forest activity a sustainable activity, combining efforts for the productive growth of the enterprise.
Caribbean pine plantations are established respecting rivers, mirity palms covered lands and plains around them. CVG Proforca’s permanent action of fires and hunting control has turned the wide region of the plantations in an area where autochthonous vegetal and animal lives cohabit harmoniously with the pine forest. |
The expanded forest in South Monagas and Anzoátegui, whose surface exceeds 400 thousand hectares, is an extraordinary mechanism to capture carbon dioxide (CO2), contributing with the world effort against the global heating. In addition, it reduces the pressure on the natural forests, for 47% of the wood production in Venezuela comes from these plantations.
The annual plantation process is held during July and August with a record of up to one million plantlets established a day in a mechanical or manual way, both with great efficiency.
CVG Proforca’s activity also develops seeds production, through the management and development of 197 hectares of gardens for the production of genetically improved seeds that allow to supply the plantation programs.
Furthermore, CVG Proforca consolidates its activity in the development of Caribbean pine plantations seeking to guarantee the raw material required by the complex of forest industries installed.
Forest protection is a priority for the enterprise, especially fires prevention and control in the 410 thousand hectares plus of existing plantations with extended capacity of more than 2 million hectares.
Research is also part of CVG Proforca’s activity and it is oriented to bring to pass studies in areas such as: genetic improvement, silviculture, environment, plagues, and diseases. The goal is to increase the quantity of wood per hectare, improve the quality of the products and mechanisms that allow to reach a sustainable forest development in harmony with the environment.
CVG Proforca employs silviculture techniques to develop improvements in fertilization, reforestation of second turn areas, and plantations performance projections. The enterprise also develops a thorough control of plagues, diseases and weeds, as a result of a non stopping study and development of new methods that bring improvement, management and exploitation of the forests.
According to the National Executive, CVG Proforca as an enterprise directed by Corporación Venezolana de Guayana, fulfills the orientation lines established by the Ministry of Basic Industries and Mining, which seek the new production model, and within which the forest enterprise objectives are:
- Guarantee value adding to raw material, through the implementation of the wooden houses building project.
- Majority shares in the paper and pulp plants.
- Guarantee raw material for the medium and small industries.
- To build a socio-productive tissue sustained in new relationships of production and new ways of work in the production chain.
- Creation of collective organizations for the execution of the production processes and forest protection.
- Establish community endogenous projects
- Stimulate democratization and cooperation for the beginning of the co-management process.

Social and Economic Development (Seeking the New Production Model)
Through the Endogenous Nucleus Development Plan, CVG Proforca has determined 13 potential projects for the reinforcement of the economy of the communities located near the forest plantations within the area of influence of the enterprise.
The idea of these projects is that prompting economic factors, it is possible to generate processes that support the integral growth of those communities in social and infrastructural terms. CVG Proforca has determined 9 Social Production Enterprises (EPS) in Chaguaramas, Monagas State, and in Coloradito and Los Hachos, South Anzoátegui, where in addition to forest potential, it is possible to exploit agricultural, fishing and tourist areas, which will be used through the participation of community social subjects.
We produce excellent Plantlets and Seeds
One of our advantages as a leader enterprise in Venezuelan forest sector, is the production of the genetically improved seed.
CVG Proforca’s seeds gardens are in increasing production. Currently, we are counting on 197 hectares dedicated to the production of the seed, with capacity to generate up to 1900 kilos a year.
We get singular benefits from producing our seed: an estimated increase of 30% in the quantity of wood and 1.5 million dollars a year replacing imports.
Our gardens have capacity to produce 8 million plantlets a year, through the method of covered root in controlled conditions containers.
Our Advantages
CVG Proforca’s main strength is its forests’ extension and location: more than 410 thousand hectares of Caribbean pine plantations located in the Southeast of Venezuela (Anzoátegui and Monagas State).
Plantations are located between the Caribbean see and the Orinoco River, the second river in size in South America, which in a great part is navigable with big draft ships and which is also near the Atlantic Ocean. This strategic location allows to approach the whole American and Caribbean markets.
Besides that, plantations are on a plain, which facilitates mobilization of land transport all year long, due to the land’s topographic characteristics. This forest counts on 5 kilometers o forest ways, out of which 217 are asphalted.
Furthermore, we count on excellent land ways that allow heavy transport to the main ports such as Puerto Cabello, Guanta and La Guaira, which count on the necessary facilities to deliver our products to any destination in he world.
Soon, the building of the second bridge over the Orinoco River will be finished, 30 kilometers from industrial zone Macapaima, very near to plantations of Caribbean pine. This structure will be accessed through land to Bolívar, Anzoátegui and Monagas States. |
